AMQP is an open protocol for enterprise messaging being defined by JPMorgan Chase Bank & Co., Cisco Systems, Inc., Envoy Technologies Inc., iMatix Corporation, IONA Technologies, Red Hat, Inc., TWIST Process Innovations, and 29West, Inc.

QPID is an Apache project that implements with AMQP protocol with server side implementations in C++ and Java and client bindings in Java (JMS), C++, Python, Ruby and C#.
